Monopoly Unleashed House Party

We had our first  Monopoly Unleashed House Party this past weekend, and I have to say it was a blast. I had heard of House Party but didn't realize how long they had been around.  I applied on a whim and managed to snag the Monopoly Party pack which included CandyLand, Monopoly Millionaire Card Game, Connect 4, and the new Monopoly Game with the new cat token.  Pep and I made decorations and we had subs and fruit and yummy brownie bites.  It was a great night and want to thank everyone for coming!

Macaroni Penguin Diorama

So for the past week, Pep has been working on her penguin project.  She was assigned the Macaroni Penguin and had to complete online research, a costume and a diorama. This is due the day before the Edison Regional Inventor's Fair at FGCU and the day before we leave for our cruise. Fun!  The research was pretty easy and we created a costume template and she put it together in about three hours with a little help.  She is a fat penguin from all the extra stuffing, but she thinks it's funny.  Last but not least, she had to create the diorama and include natural resources.  The penguin also had to be created and could not be store bought so she used pipe cleaners. I love watching her creativity at work because the parents are allowed to help.  Occasionally, I might get to help cut or help sew a little bit but have to admit love having her in gifted because she has become so open to new ideas and if something doesn't work, she just keeps working until she finds something she likes.

Pep's Owl themed Valentines Day Card

So on top of the penguin research, costume and diorama, and the upcoming Valentine's Day big card and special made box all due for school this week, Pep wanted to design a Valentine's Day card rather than buying them this year.  Wow - that gets expensive.  I found this really cute template from Erin Bradley Designs  for 5.00.  Pep and I designed her Valentine's Day card in Photoshop and then we uploaded to Shutterfly and took advantage of 101 free prints, printing her 4x6 card as a matte photo.  They should be here by the time we get back from the cruise.

Great Family Movie | gofobo

Great Family Movie | gofobo

Loved - Loved this movie! It was so nice to be able to go to the movies as a family and not see an animated flick. Crystal and Midler had great chemistry together and with the kids. Lots of funny moments and some endearing tears at the end too. All around good movie!

Happy New Year!

Custom Clipboard with Mod Podge

One of Pep's school supply needs this year was a clipboard.  She didn't want a boring clipboard like everyone else so we decided we would attempt to spice it up.   We bought a clear clipboard for $3.87 at Walmart and cut a 12x12 black/silver star scrapbook page.  Then I handed Pep the Mod Podge.  Pep didn't want to write on it so we Mod Podged it with the design showing through the bottom of the clipboard.  Not sure if i would it this away again.  The back of the clipboard even after several thin coats was bumpy feeling so we are very glad we didn't do it on top of the clipboard.  We added some shiny tulle and off she went with her new clipboard.  It's still in one piece four months in so it appears to be holding up.

4out of 5

Sizing: Feels true to size

Sleeve Length: Feels true to length

Pros: Attractive Design, Lightweight, Versatile

Best Uses: Going Out

Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser

Was this a gift?: Yes

We were looking for a jacket we could use as the Arena Jacket Katniss wore in the Hunger Games. This jacket is lightweight and perfect esp since we live in South Florida. The only con I would have is that it was caught on a door and the jacket ripped on the back in a nice little V. Would have been nice if the material was a little more durable. Covered it with silver duct tape as part of the costume design.
